This September 4, the city of Jacksonville comes together once again to celebrate 904 Day! This year, celebrate at one of Jacksonville’s most historic landmarks: The Ritz Theatre & Museum, located in the heart of LaVilla. Join us on September 4th from 5 to 9 PM for an evening of music, food, fun, and deep local pride.

904 Day isn’t just a nod to our area code. It’s a celebration of the people, neighborhoods, and shared experiences that make Jacksonville home. This year’s Ritz celebration will place a spotlight on Black history and culture in our city, emphasizing the legacy of LaVilla, once known as the “Harlem of the South.”

Honoring LaVilla: The Heartbeat of Black History in Jacksonville

LaVilla has long been a hub for Black-owned businesses, art, and culture, and this celebration pays tribute to that spirit. This lively evening is all about honoring the neighborhoods, flavors, sounds, and people that shape our city. Whether you’re from Riverside, Springfield, Durkeeville, Out East, West Side, the Beaches, or the Northside, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

What to Expect at the Ritz

Live Music & DJ Performances
Enjoy a live DJ spinning throughout the evening, with a mix of soulful beats, local favorites, and high-energy tracks that reflect the rhythms of Jacksonville’s neighborhoods.

Uptown Market
Inspired by LaVilla’s former nickname “Uptown,” the event will feature a local vendor market spotlighting talented artisans, makers, and small businesses. Come discover handcrafted goods, unique gifts, and maybe even your new favorite local brand.
